Ken Block and the Hoonigan squad have revealed the team’s newly-built Ford Escort Cosworth (The Cossie) today in a video on their YouTube channel. The video is a followup to the team’s schedule announcement on Monday, where Block shared plans to drive the Cossie at the 100 Acre Wood Rally, March 15-16, as the first round of his Cossie World Tour.
In today’s announcement, the Hoonigan team shared behind the scenes information on the ethos, design, and build process behind the new car. Unlike last year’s period-raced Group A Ford Escort Cosworth that competed at the Oregon Trail and New England Forest rallies in 2018, the CossieV2 is a ground up 21st century build.
The design team took inspiration from the M-Sport Ford Performance Fiesta currently competing at the top level of World Rally Championship while designing the Cossie; big boxed fenders and an emphasis on aerodynamics permeate the design.
See Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino along with 74 other drivers at next month’s 100 Acre Wood Rally, Round 2 of the American Rally Association National Rally Championship Presented by AMSOIL. Based in the towns of Potosi, Steelville, and Salem, Missouri, the 100AW is promising to be one of the biggest US rally events in recent memory. More information on the event can be found here.
